when we did our observation at kobler we got to use what we read and learn with the students. with Harry Wong's first days of schools, i learned how to keep the students attention on me and kept them working. with blooms taxonomy it helped me do activities with my students. like when i had to help teach my students the difference between the sound of the vowels. i used blooms taxonomy to make my students understand how to tell the sound of the vowels apart. with the speech part, i never really had a hard time speaking to them because i always had their attention. the only time it was difficult was when i had to deal with my special ed kids and my ELL students. it just takes time and understanding to make the students understand the works.
doing my student teaching was fun, i had to work one on one time with my students. i taught them lessons, did read-a-louds. when teaching a lesson to the students i tried my best to always keep their attention on me and what i was teaching. i had to explain more on the directions of works, but they understood the work they needed to do. i also did read alouds, sometimes the students choose a book, sometimes i choose the book. but when i did my read aloud i brought my own book and i read to them. after reading the book i asked them questions about the book and i made them do an activity after. they enjoyed the activities we did, but most of all the like sharing what they drew and wrote. the hard times i had with my student teaching was when i had to just deal with the special ed studetns. sometimes its hard to explain things to them, and sometimes you have to change how you do your activvities for them but its the only way for them to understand and for them to do the activity. but when i start to teach my own class i would want to spend more time with my special ed studetns and my ELL students, its not that they need most of my attention but they just need more guidance and assistance with doing works.
with my mentor teacher we had a good teacher-student relationship, we helped each other with the activities and with lessons. she would take the advance learners and i would work with the behind students. but most of the time we teach the class in a whole group. but since i had two mentors i had to work with much more things. the second mentor teacher i had was a bit impatient. she would yell to the students or scare the students. but i always tried to help her with the students that needed more help. but other than that i got along with both my mentors.
Mrs.Torres, you dont need to improve the program, its fine the way it is. everything we learned from you was very useful and unforgettable. everything i learned from you will follow me through out my teaching life. you taught us how to be effective teachers, you advised us on what to do and what not to do while teaching and that has really helped us all. at the beginning we were ashame to be around each other. but look now we are one big teacher academy family. thanks to you we had a great year and a half experience on how to become a teacher.
and lastly, this class was the best class we had. we all started as strangers but them became a family. we are and forever will be your first TEACHER ACADEMY family. i will miss this class the most, all the memories we had will be with me forever. especially when we had our breakfast parties, LOL :) but really this class has taught me alot, alot for me to take into my teaching year. Mrs.Torres nothing can ever change the way you helped me to strive to be a teacher. at first i didnt think i want to be a teacher, but you taught us that teachers are the holders of the future. and like Mrs.Lynn said were not only teachers, but were also a police officer, a doctor, a counsellor, a lawyer, but we will always be a teacher. i hope that one day ill be as good of a teacher as you were. thanks again for all that you have taught me and my fellow TA classmates, when we graduate with out bachelors degree in education we have you to thank for.
