experience so far with your student teaching. What has improved, did you see any self-growth? What have you applied from what you learned in this class? Is there anything new that your mentor teacher learned from you?

so far we did a full month of student teaching and observation. now working with the same students and the same teacher is much better. i know all the students names and i feel more comfortable around them. working with the stuents is great, they know when to ask for help and they know how to figure things out on their own. the students may depend on me sometimes for help but i encourage them to figure things out on their own before they ask me.

lately i help mrs.guerrero with the students , i teach some lessons, and i do alot of read aloud and sometimes test the students with reading. when working with the students individualy they tend to be more independent with the work they have. some students know how to read and some have a little hard time with reading. i tell them to try and sound out the letters to figure out the word but if they still dont get it we go over it as a group or as a class.

i have a total of 13 student a day. its not much but when teaching them all at one time is a bit hard cause their little kids they tend to doze off at times. but other than that working with them is pretty easy and fun. the students enjoy story time on the carpet, they all are listening and reading along with the book.

since i started my student teaching the class has been working on sight words, the vowel sounds, and counting 1 to a 100. the sight words are only 10 words, the students write them 3 times to remember the word and remember to spell them. they sometimes get mixed up with the words and tend to write the letters backwords but atleast they know the word. with math the students learn to count to a 100. they do worksheets on remembering the numbers. they play games to remember how to count by tens. the students learn vowels and their long and short sounds. we gave them worksheets to see which picture had the short or long vowel sound. the studetns understand but get a bit mixed up with some sounds. cause some have the same sounds, but we try to help them tell the difference between them.

overall i love my student teaching. my students are great and fun to work with. they may doze of sometimes but i know how to get their attention back.
